Hi everyone
nice tribe - thanks for letting me join.
Some of my friends and I, fed up with waiting for change to happen, are taking things into our own hands and coming together under the banner Project X.
As we are mostly musicians, or artists, promoters etc we've decided to start with a one off event, taking total responsibility for it ourselves and keeping it as free as possible.
I wont witter on too much here as Ive posted up some info about it on our new tribe currently to be found here:
tribes.tribe.net/projectx
Id really appreciate any feedback, thoughts, support, or criticism, either here, or over on the X tribe.
many thanks and best wishes
Rich

Re: Project X
Wed, September 28, 2005 - 9:27 AMHi San Pedro
thanks for your interest - partly prompted by your comment Ive just written a well overdue update in the Project X tribe, and here it is:
time for a short update on how things are going.
Essentially well - our group of people continues to expand so that we now have all the crucial aspects of our first gig pretty much covered in terms of personnel. Not everyone is totally confirmed - the nature of the project seems to dictate that people become gradually more and more committed to it at different rates.
In our first real setback, our first funding application was rejected without even being considered, due to a small error on the form.
Altho the Project is by no means about money, we are seriously thinking about putting the date back two or four weeks which will allow us to re-apply for this funding, and also apply for two other funding sources we have identified.
I used to have a problem with taking public money (ive never taken any social security payments despite not having a "proper job" at a few times in my life) but this project is about unity and also about finding ways to support ourselves in doing what we do, so I think we should take support where we can find it.
cheers
Rich

Re: Project X
Thu, September 29, 2005 - 7:20 AMgreat question - will have a quick go at answering tho im right in the middle of some work.
firstly Im not attached to any particular outcome, and we are very much a one step at a time sort of a group - hence we are doing one gig only, and taking it from there (tho we all understand that if it goes well we're likely to want to do it again).
I want us to be able to live our lives the way we want - that means expressing ourselves creatively and co operatively and addressing what you might call spiritual or ethical concerns.
How the community will develop deserves a longer and better thought out answer, but I forsee a real possibility that we might tour our event, and future events, perhaps get our own venue to further our aims long term, and serve as a base for developing in a number of different directions.
hmmm, but vague!
Rich
